The Fire FRIENDS (Firesetter Regional Intervention Education Network and Delivery System) program is designed specifically for juveniles who are exhibiting a negligent and dangerous interest in fire and fire behavior. The program is available to children and their families at no cost.
Fire FRIENDS is a collaboration of community-based partners joining together with the common goal of reducing the number of deaths, burn injuries and property destruction caused by juvenile firesetting.
The program offers a 6-hour Fire Safety Education and Group Intervention class designed for parents or guardians and their children who have shown an interest in fire or explosives, and to those who have been involved in a firesetting incident.
The class aims to educate both parents and children about fire safety and legal ramifications while also providing group intervention strategies to address and manage concerning behavior.
Topics covered include general fire safety, legal implications of firesetting behavior, victims’ perspectives, coping with peer pressure, and potential impact of current behavior on future goals
As a parent, we know you share our concern for the safety of your child, your family, and your community.
Our goal is to make the necessary resources and support available to you and your family to help put an end to your child's dangerous firesetting behavior.
