Neighbor’s video captures a blaze spreading into a home.

Santa Ana - A family woke up after they heard the crackling sound of fire shortly before 1:00 AM. What they saw was a well-established fire that was quickly spreading into their single story home. Fortunately, the >>>

One person was treated by firefighter paramedics for a minor injury that was not related to the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Assistance was provided by @SantaAnaPD.

✅ If you missed it during Daylight Saving Time, check your smoke alarms and make sure they’re working and they have fresh batteries.

The Orange County Fire Authority is proud to announce the graduation of 15 candidates from Fire Captain Academy 40!

The academy challenged and prepared each of them to lead, mentor, and supervise a crew of firefighters in responding to all hazards throughout Orange County. >>

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the instructors who guided the academy, the captains and crews who dedicated hours to training, and the loved ones who supported these company officers along the way. >>

🙏 A big thank-you to everyone who slowed down and gave space for our crews tonight! Your caution helped our firefighters safely and quickly extinguish a vehicle fire on the northbound 605 freeway at Katella at 6 p.m. 🚒

Firefighters and mustaches have always been a classic combo. 🚒 While firefighters might not agree on which style is the best, they can agree that growing out their mustaches during “Movember” is for a great cause.

The National Firefighter Registry (NFR) is collecting information from firefighters nationwide to create data-driven guidelines that reduce exposures and lower the risk of occupational cancer. 300 OCFA firefighters have already registered, contributing to the data collection.

If you see a firefighter this month, don't forget to compliment their 'stache! 🔥💪

⏰ Don’t forget! Daylight saving time ends this Sunday, November 2.

When you set your clocks back, take a moment to test your smoke alarms and replace the batteries. A working smoke alarm can make all the difference in an emergency.

Yesterday morning, #Academy62 hit the Bell View Trail in Rancho Santa Margarita as part of wildland week! ⛰️ Carrying 60–70 lb hose and line packs, these recruits pushed through the challenge for their daily physical training.

Equally important are the steps you can take to keep your family safe and help prevent a fire like this from occurring in your home:

✅ DO NOT leave cooking food unattended. Before you leave, turn off your cooking appliances.

✅ Have working smoke alarms and test them every month. They will buy you time to escape.
✅ Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from heat sources.
✅ Have a home escape plan.

💡 Trick-or-treat in groups in well-lit areas
🎃 Use battery-operated candles in pumpkins
🚸 Stay on sidewalks and crosswalks
🔥 Keep decorations away from heat sources

Have a safe and fun night from all of us at the Orange County Fire Authority!

A Remarkable Reunion

It’s not often our crews get the chance to reunite with someone they helped on one of the worst days of their life.

Back in June, OCFA firefighters rushed to the scene after Dan Luong was struck by a vehicle while out walking his dog. When crews arrived, >>

Dan was barely alive. They worked quickly to stabilize him and get him to a trauma center, uncertain whether he would survive.

Fast forward to today: not only did Dan make it, he’s doing amazing! 🙌

Over the past 30 years, OCFA has continuously evolved, embracing new technology, training, and advancements to better serve our communities. Hear from our firefighters about how we’re growing, learning, and adapting every day. #30YearsofOCFA

Please join us in congratulating Fire Apparatus Engineer Robert Lacy on an incredible 40 years of service to Orange County!

Surrounded by family and fellow firefighters, Engineer Lacy was honored today with his 40-year badge for his dedication to our community.

Engineer Lacy served his first 28 years with the Santa Ana Fire Department before the transition to the OCFA, where he proudly serves at Station 40 in Coto de Caza.

Thank you for your service, Engineer Lacy!

On October 11, OCFA stations opened their doors for our Open Houses, and we loved seeing so many residents exploring fire engines, meeting our crews, and learning how to stay fire safe. ❤️

OCFA firefighters, with assistance from Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue and Newport Beach Fire Department, quickly contained the fire to just the kitchen and dining area of the involved unit — preventing it from spreading to neighboring apartments.

Through innovation and partnerships — from FIREHAWKS, FIRIS and the QRF, to Community Risk Reduction, strategic resource positioning, and the evolution of our Hand Crew and Dozer programs — we continue to build on our successes and strengthen our commitment to serving others.

On the front lines of wildfires and at the forefront of technology, the OCFA is proud to be a leader in wildfire preparedness.

The Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Professional Firefighters Local 3631 honor the life and service of Fire Apparatus Engineer Doug Wetmore on this anniversary of his Line of Duty Death on October 22, 2002. Doug and his family are forever in our hearts.

We’re growing our team! OCFA is hiring a Workers’ Compensation Program Manager who’s ready to join our organization.

This afternoon, OCFA firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out on the slope above PCH, threatening homes along Camino Capistrano.

Our first units arrived within minutes and launched a coordinated attack from both above and below >>>>
