Overview

Insurance coverage is an ongoing issue throughout the State of California. OCFA recommends home hardening and vegetation management to safeguard your property against wildfire. Insurance companies are mandating home hardening and vegetation management for coverage. Your insurance provider’s requirements may be more restrictive than what OCFA recommends. OCFA does not offer insurance-related inspections but has compiled a list of companies that may be able to assist. Please note that this is simply a listing of companies operating in Orange County, California that assist with insurance compliance. The Orange County Fire Authority provides this page as a courtesy. Listing here does not imply review, endorsement, or approval by the OCFA.

Description of Services
The Real Estate Inspection Company (REIC) evaluates residential and commercial properties for wildfire ignition vulnerabilities and Home Fire Hardening considerations. REIC recommendations provided within the inspection report are urban wildfire mitigation suggestions directly associated with the subject property. Home Fire Hardening suggestions are based on REIC and its representatives' understanding of research from urban wildfire experts and are designed to improve the likelihood of a home surviving a wildfire. The optimal goal of home hardening and defensible space is to provide residential structures with the ability to survive a wildfire without the intervention of fire-fighting forces. Preventing ignition to these structures will reduce the exposure of firefighters and residents to hazards that threaten life and injury and will reduce catastrophic home losses.
