Fire Prevention Week

Smoke Alarms. Make them WORK for you!

43 percent of home fire deaths occur in properties without smoke alarms, but having working smoke alarms can decrease your risk of death by up to 60 percent. “Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you!” is the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week.

From the placement of smoke alarms in your home to the frequency of testing and replacing them, this year’s campaign works to better educate the public on the importance of having working smoke alarms in their home.

We will be highlighting smoke alarm safety tips on our social media pages, so be sure to follow along at @OCFireAuthority! Also, our OCFA Kid’s Corner will be filled with activities that the whole family can enjoy.
