Scott Arthur

Fire Captain

Captain Scott Arthur has built a career defined by service, teamwork, and a deep commitment to the people of Orange County. A lifelong resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, Scott grew up in a close-knit family of five and is now raising three children of his own there with his wife, Jenny.

After graduating from Santa Margarita High School and Trabuco Hills High School, Scott continued his education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before returning home to pursue a career in public safety. He became a paramedic and began his fire service journey as a reserve firefighter at OCFA Station 40 in Coto de Caza. Soon after, he was accepted into OCFA Academy 29, officially launching a career dedicated to helping others.

For Scott, the most rewarding part of the job is “helping others in their time of need and working as a team. It’s awesome having a work family.” One of his most memorable early experiences was rescuing a parrot stranded high in a tree while assigned to Truck 22. He recalls the long descent down the aerial ladder — with the grateful bird clutching his arms and chest the entire way — as one of those moments that perfectly captures the variety and unpredictability of the job.

Scott has spent his career continually learning and growing, serving as a firefighter paramedic, engineer, captain, and medical specialist with US&R California Task Force 5. Looking back, he reflects, “Life goes by faster than you think. It feels like yesterday that I was running around the station as a rookie.”

Raised by loving parents who taught him the importance of hard work and integrity, Scott now strives to pass those same values on to his children. Surrounded by family and friends he describes as “truly irreplaceable,” he remains grateful for the opportunities the fire service has given him and proud of the difference he continues to make in the community.

Scott’s dedication, heart, and decades of experience make him a trusted leader within OCFA and an integral part of the fire family.
