Jonathon Beloz

Fire Apparatus Engineer

Fire Engineer Jonathan Beloz is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the people he serves, combining skill, compassion, and instinctive care in every call. One example of his dedication came during a rescue involving a young child who was stuck and frightened. While his crew worked to free her, Jonathan focused on keeping her calm and reassured, creating a sense of safety during a stressful situation.

For Jonathan, moments like these resonate personally. As a father, he draws on his own experiences raising his young son to understand the fear and anxiety a child may feel, allowing him to respond with empathy and calmness. “Being there for her and helping her feel safe while the crew worked was a truly special moment,” he reflects.

Jonathan says the best part of being a firefighter and engineer is the ability to use his skills and experience to make someone’s worst day a little better — problem-solving, thinking on his feet, and directly impacting lives. Off duty, he stays active and enjoys life with his family. Living near the coast, he loves surfing, snowboarding, camping, cruising along the coast in his Volkswagen, and spending quality time raising his son.

Jonathan’s outlook on life and work is grounded in reflection and growth: “It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in a year — that has always been my motto.”

In a fun lightning round, Jonathan shares a few personal favorites: dogs over cats, surfing over snowboarding, thin crust pizza, talking over texting, and his last Halloween costume as “Daddy Shark.”

Jonathan Beloz exemplifies the skill, care, and heart of an OCFA engineer, bringing professionalism and compassion to every call while inspiring those around him both on and off duty.
