Alicia Domercq
Firefighter Alicia Domercq brings energy, determination, and a strong commitment to service to every call she responds to with OCFA. She began her career by entering the fire academy and, after completing rigorous training and probation, went on to successfully complete paramedic training, preparing her for the next step as a firefighter paramedic.
Before joining the fire service, Alicia pursued a variety of physically demanding careers, including gymnastics instructor, CrossFit coach, and teaching Krav Maga, in which she holds a black belt. These experiences helped shape her desire for an active and challenging career dedicated to helping others.
Family keeps Alicia grounded. She enjoys spending time with her parents, two brothers, and nephews, and they remain her biggest supporters, following her career with pride. When she’s away from work, Alicia enjoys surfing, yoga, working out, and wakeboarding.
One of her most memorable experiences involved a complex rescue during a paramedic internship at a Dana Point drowning. High tide prevented access from the stairs, so she and her crew navigated rocks and waves to reach the patient. They then carried the victim through knee-deep water to the waiting ambulance, demonstrating teamwork, skill, and perseverance in a challenging environment.
Alicia’s advice to anyone considering a career in the fire service is to work hard, be determined, and give their best effort. She acknowledges that joining OCFA is one of the most challenging goals to achieve, but emphasizes that the effort is well worth it.
In a fun lightning round, Alicia shares a few personal favorites: dogs over cats, summer over winter, engine company over truck, and no beans in her burrito.
Alicia Domercq exemplifies dedication, skill, and perseverance, inspiring those around her both on and off duty.
