Summer Internship Program

Our Outreach and Recruitment Team (ORT) participated in various events at high schools and universities, as well as community events like the OC Marathon. The goal: to inspire and attract the next generation of diverse first responders.

At our March 16th Open House, over 5,000 community members experienced firefighting activities and learned about OCFA careers.

We’ve developed a Workforce Engagement Roadmap, a framework for growth in areas such as recruitment, communications, training, and community engagement.

Our PPE Committee, which includes female firefighters, is working to design better protective gear that accommodates different body types. The process includes focus groups, vendor selection, and wear trials to find the best solutions.

This summer, we’re partnering with Tustin Unified School District and EXP to offer internships for 11th graders. The program covers resume writing, career exploration, interview skills, and more to prepare students for academic and career success.
