Orange County Captain Thor Swanson was helping kids almost from the time he was a kid himself. For 35 of his 51 years on earth, Thor gave of his time and energy as a counselor, advisor and friend at camps for young people. He served with distinction as a Firefighter for 27 years, first with California Department of Forestry and then, from 1980 forward, with Orange County Fire. Saving lives was a big part of his career – for over 20 years, Thor was a Paramedic as well as a Firefighter, and his last assignment was as a Paramedic/Captain at a station in Dana Point.
